Thankful for:
*Working in surgery and being able to by pass a couple of steps to get my baby taken care of
*Preston did not have a good night-his little leg hurt, he and I got up around 3am with it because he could not get comfortable, the redness around what I thought was an insect bite had gotten larger (about the size of my palm) and the center was red, hard and angry about the size of a quarter, I made him an appointment to see his pediatrician for 4:30pm, but I was at work worrying about my poor baby, deep down I knew he would probably need an operation (I&D) to open that little spot and let it drain, luckily the orthopedic surgeon was working I caught him at the scrub sink between his cases, explained what was going on and he said to bring him up to the hospital and he would look at it and work him in if it needed to be drained, sure enough it needed to be, this was around 1015am, close to 2pm Preston was being carried to surgery by one of my co-workers, it is HEART BREAKING to see your baby being carried away from you, I know I do this day in and day out and you would think that I would be used to it, but when it is your baby it is a whole different story-MaMa mode turns on and Surgery Nurse mode turns off, the tears started flowing because I knew that my little baby was going to be scared and most probably hurting the next day when the numbing medicine wore off, the surgery was quick (10 minutes tops...but it seemed so much longer) I knew it would be, and Preston was being carried to us, Thomas held him first but then he wanted MaMa, his cries finally settled, and about an hour later we were on our way home, after he ate and drank something you would have never known anything had happened expected for the ace bandage on his lower right leg, but at 6:45pm when he ate some mac and cheese, he put his little head on my shoulder and was out like a light until 7:00am Saturday morning, he only woke up once and asked for Wallkee (this is what he named his blankie), when he woke up his said leg hurt but once the Motrin kicked in the little Sweet P is playing around the house again, Kids are so resilient....WE LOVE YOU SWEET P AND WISH YOU A QUICK RECOVERY!!!

You're so right about mama mode! I'm sorry sweet P has been having to go through this, but I'm so glad that he's doing better...and happy for you that you were able to let the doc do the dressing change today! What a little trooper Preston is!
Wow, Julie, so sorry for Sweet P! Hope he's better by now. Did you ever find out what it was? Insect bite?
thanks ladies...Preston is doing better. Not sure what kind of bite it was or if it was a bite. the incision is almost closed now.
